MATCH REPORTS

Ballygalget v Bredagh 02.06.15

The U16 camogie team played away to Ballygalget on Tuesday 2 June in a game that delivered a pulsating and nail biting final 15 minutes before going down on a score of 4.8 to 1.8

Travelling with the bare minimum 15 players, the girls held their own in the opening quarter, but couldn't nail the scores on the board when it mattered most. Ballygalget made the most of their chances at the other end and had posted 1.2 before Bredagh registered three scores to up the contest.

In the second quarter, the girls lost some of their composure and the home team capitalised, leaving the half time score 3.4 to 0.3, which didnt reflect 2 incredible saves from the Ballygalget net minder.

When Ballygalget picked off a long range goal and point early in the second half, it looked from the sidelines that the Bredagh girls might be dead and buried, but instead, the last 15 minutes saw the girls play the shirt off their backs!

A goal on the 3/4 hour ignited the flame, and from that point to the final whistle the Bredagh girls were on fire with a string of points and a host of near misses around the goals.

However, like the corresponding fixture last year, the clock finally ran out on the comeback effort, to the mighty relief of the home support.

On the evening, there wasn't one of the girls who didn't give everything, with some strong tackling, super short passing and intelligent play into space. In the words of one of the more vocal team members, "it was ALL biz".

A great team performance, in a battling contest between two skilful and very sporting teams, it would be impossible to single out any individuals - they were all superb.

Many thanks to the U14 parents Bernard McKee and Joe Churchman for vital transport logistics!
